Week 10: 5-15 Report

To begin, I read two chapters from the student authored textbook about the Korean War for Wednesdays class. One was “11. Pre- and post-war Korea,” and the other one was “10. The Civilian Perspective of the Korean War.” Those gave me a quick overview of the war and the what the result and economy after the war looked like. I also read “A Stray Bullet” and “Cranes”. These were both stories of people during the war. It shows you how the people are living and how they feel there is no escape. In class we went over the slides and discussed how the border came to be. It was along the 38th parallel and then North Korea began attacking and they were south of the 38th parallel. North Korea came back and was north of the 38th parallel, and then finally the border became permanent near the 38th parallel but not exactly straight on it. For Fridays class I took notes on how I thought a chapter from heaven looked like and how a chapter from hell looked like. I included that a chapter should include lots of visuals with captions/figure legends. It should also have a clear title and subtitles. The timeline should be in order as well. We went over these thoughts in class. For Friday, I also gave feedback on Jenny’s and Kaya’s first rough drafts. On my todo list is to keep working on my chapter, while this week and next week will be busy I am going to try to work on this when I get free time.
