For Wednesdays Class I prepared by reading, “The Ascension of the Ordinary Man: How the Personality Cult of Kim Il-Sung Was Constructed” and “On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche [Chuch’e] in Ideological Work.” The first reading was about Kim’s cult and and second was about Juche. Kim’s cult was a major way to make North Korea and Kim as a leader legitimatized. His cult resulted in the civilians praising him and making him extremely powerful. At first, North Korea was under the soviet control. Then, he was to make his cult bigger and bigger. This is around the time that he began the Korean War with the support of the soviet union. After the war he basically said he is independent and said that he is victorious after the war, when in reality he was failing and needed help. The Chinese came in aid of the Koreans. He then had this idea of self reliance and taking the ideas formed by other communist leaders and applied them to Koreas needs. He really focused on Juche and Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un continued and strengthened the power of the Juche ideology.
On Thursday, I replied to blog posts and over the break I got to work on my second draft. I changed my order that I presented my information in. I added way more details and information about each of the North Korean leaders. I did not work on the last paragraph that I had from my first draft but I am going to work on that. I also included some images and I want to include maybe more I am not sure. I am also still thinking about including a youtube video or maybe including a story about someone escaping however I am not sure if that would fit in my chapter. Since we did not have school on Monday and I had an exam this week it totally lost my mind to check to see if we had to do a blog post, but I still got to it.
